Boğaziçi University awards Honorary Doctorate to famous Istanbul-Armenian photographer

The Boğaziçi University of Istanbul has awarded the Honorary Doctorate to famous Istanbul-Armenian photographer Ara Güler.

The renowned artist was granted the certificate of the Honorary Doctorate by Rector of the Boğaziçi University Gyulay Barbarosoglu during a solemn ceremony held at Albert Long Hall.

In his speech, the rector mentioned that the Honorary Doctorate is awarded to Güler for presenting Turkey’s history and daily life to the world.

According to the Turkish Manshet TV news portal, Turk writer, recipient of the Nobel Prize Orhan Pamuk also participated in the solemn ceremony and mentioned that it’s easy to award a great artist, but the most important thing is to preserve the archive of that artist’s works.

It is reported that Güler’s works will be showcased at Boğaziçi University in July.
