Russian FM Sergey Lavrov visits Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, who is on an official visit to Armenia on 22-23 June, visited today the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex with the accompaniment of RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs laid a wreath at the monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, after which the Russian delegates laid flowers near the eternal fire perpetuating the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide and paid tribute to the innocent victims with a moment of silence.

Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan presented the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs with the golden copies of the medal issued in Petrograd for charity purposes to help the survivors of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The two-headed eagle (coat-of-arms of the Russian Empire) and the images of the traditional Armenian cross are portrayed on the medal with the following inscription: “Russians helping Armenians at time of catastrophe” (Rusk ar hays I zhamu pordzanatss).

Hayk Demoyan also donated his book entitled “Turkey’s Foreign Policy and the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict”.
