Event devoted to Armenian song held in London

A concert entitled “Concert Under a Candlelight: Armenia-On the Roads of Armenian Song, Dance and Poetry” was held at the Globus Shakespeare Theater in London on April 13th and 14th. The event was organized by the “Armenian Institution” Cultural Union of London and Globus Theater with the support of the RA Embassy in the United Kingdom. The event included performances of Armenian folk, classical and spiritual songs and music (Narekatsi, Sayat Nova, Yekmalyan and Komitas), as well as the works of modern Armenian composers Tigran Mansuryan and Vache Sharafyan.

The concert also included performances by famous London-based Armenian musicians, including violinist Levon Chilingiryan, cellist Alexander Chaushyan, soprano Teresa Gevorgyan, tavigh player Sevan Horox-Hopaian, as well as actor Colin Hurly, who recited the poems of Zabel Boyadjian, Sayat Nova, Hovhannes Tumanyan, Vahan Tekeyan and Razmik Davoyan in English. The “Duduks” Group of Armenia charmed the audience during the event, reports the RA MFA press office.
