On Apr. 1, the “Literary Diaspora 2013” Yearbook and the study on the “Academic and Analytical Community of the Diaspora” were presented at the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan introduced the 4th “Literary Diaspora” Yearbook published by the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and praised the selection of works included in the yearbook. “In spite of the wide opportunities on the Internet, Armenian readers know little about Diaspora Armenian authors, and Armenians in the Diaspora lack information about writers in Armenia,” said the deputy minister.
Srapionyan expressed gratitude to the Institute of Literature and the board of editors for the rich compilation of the “Literary Diaspora” Yearbook, which is perhaps the only source for communication with writers in the Diaspora.
Expressing gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora for trusting the Institute in compiling the yearbook, Director of the Institute of Literature Avik Isahakyan mentioned that the book includes the poems, prose, a play and literary articles about Diaspora Armenian writers and Diaspora Armenian literature by 15 Diaspora Armenian writers.
Isahakyan suggested dedicating next year’s yearbook to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and include only the works devoted to the Genocide.
Editor of the “Literary Diaspora” Yearbook Armen Avanesyan suggested inviting editors of the yearbook to the conferences for Diaspora Armenian writers organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora in order to establish direct relations with the participating writers.
Afterwards, the RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora introduced the study on “The Academic and Analytical Community of the Diaspora” released by the RA Ministry of Diaspora and “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Foundation. “The study is devoted to the identification and appreciation of the scientific and analytical potential of Armenians in the Diaspora,” said Srapionyan, adding that the book was compiled with care and the board of editors had managed to finish on time.
Expressing gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora for trusting the Foundatio in conducting the study aimed at revealing the potential of Armenian scientists in the Diaspora and for ordering the 13th study, Director of “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Foundation, Turkologist Aristakes Simavoryan mentioned that an attempt was made to identify Armenian intellectuals working for academic institutions abroad and establish a database for Diaspora Armenian experts involved in academics and analysis.
One of the major objectives of the study is to have Diaspora Armenian intellectuals become involved in the solution to issues of national concern.
