The first largest exhibition dedicated to the Armenian Genocide will be held in the United States, showing the role of the Armenian Church during the years of the Armenian Genocide, reports Armenpress.am, citing the Armenian Mirror Spectator Weekly.
The exhibition called “First Reliance and Last Protector: The Armenian Church, Etchmiadzin and the Armenian Genocide” is organized by the Armenian Genocide Museum of the United States, the Armenian National School, the Armenian Assembly of America, as well as the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and the National Archives of the Republic of Armenia.
The exhibition will showcase evidence of the assistance provided by the Armenians of Western Armenia to the Armenians who escaped from Ottoman Turkey, as well as testimonies of survivors and eyewitnesses, three maps, 12 historical documents and parts from news releases of the period. There will be detailed testimonies of 16 survivors describing the massacres of 1915 and more than 150 photos showing the role of Armenian clergymen in that difficult period for the Armenians. The exhibition will include the showing of photos from archives, as well as the archives of Armenia and the United States.
“This exhibition will be based on the first studies by scientists specializing in the Armenian Genocide and adjacent sciences,” said Director of the Armenian National School, Dr. Ruben Atalyan, who created the exhibition.
The exhibition “First Reliance and Last Protector” will be accessible in digital format and will be disseminated.
