“Our Alphabet” in Mislata

“Our Alphabet”-this was the title of the play for children presented at the culture home in Mislata on Jan. 9. It was a beautiful play that the children had organized on the occasion of the handing of certificates at the end of the year.

Director of the play Ararat Ghukasyan and artistic director Marine Arzumanyan had done everything possible to make sure that the audience enjoys the play, and they succeeded since the main characters were talented Armenian children with endless vigor.

The play had a very important symbol, and that was to learn and preserve the native language and transmit it to the future generations. The main characters of the play had lost the language, which is the main guarantee for national preservation. They had lost it to the extent that they couldn’t even read the name of their ship, which was full of books in Armenian.

Due to their negligence, they navigated from sea to sea in search of the Armenian alphabet preserved by a master, who gives back the most important symbol for their national preservation-the Armenian alphabet, under the condition that they go to an Armenian school, learn the letters of the alphabet and never lose knowledge of it. The play ends with the children’s promise, advising parents to transmit the precious Armenian language to their children properly.

The packed audience gave rounds of applause and greeted the characters back on stage. The play was followed by the handing of certificates, and Advisor for International Relations from Mislata Municipality José Ramón Boscá, speakers of the People’s Party (Partido Popular) and the Lefts Union (Izquierda Unida) Pepa Saenz, Antonio Sanchez and Salvador García de la Mota had attended the event especially for that.

Like every year, awards were presented in the following categories:

Best Student of the Year: Elen Modrovyan

Most Active Member of the Association: Marine Arzumanyan

Best Friend of the Armenian People: Miguel Lopez Marinas

The handing ceremony was followed by speeches by representatives of the newly established FUNDARM Union, including Andy Dor, Elen Harut and Lilit Avetisyan.

In his speech, José Ramón Boscá praised the efforts of Ararat Armenian Association and promised to sponsor and do everything possible to support the Association in organizing all its events.

In the end, President of Ararat Armenian Association Ararat Ghukasyan said he was pleased to announce Mislata Municipality’s official recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which was received with warm rounds of applause.
