Armenian culture presented in Brazil

On 9, 10 and 16 June, at the initiative of the Immigration Museum of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo hosted the Festa do Imigrante festival, which gathered representatives of 50 nationalities living in Brazil. During the festival, Armenian culture was presented by the Brazil Chapter of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.

“On 9 June, we presented rich Armenian cuisine, including Armenian barbecue, Armenian kyufta, rice with bulgur, gata, bread with tahini, an egg and basturma sandwich wrapped in Armenian lavash (one of the most favorite Armenian dish of the Brazilians) and many other dishes that are the decors of Armenian cuisine,” Vardine Galajyan stated in an interview with Hayern Aysor.

On 10 June, the choir of the SAMA Armenian Club performed Armenian songs devoted to the 2,800th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Yerevan along with performer of Armenian songs Vahagn Minasyan.

On 16 June, the last day of the festival, Hamazkayin’s three dance groups — Arevik Children’s Dance Group, Kilikia Youth Dance Group and Tsirani Dance Group for Middle Aged Dancers — presented Armenian folk dances that were received with great excitement.

“We presented Armenia and the Armenian nation as a powerful nation along with other nations, together and hand-in-hand. We also felt proud that we presented our culture in a country that receives migrants on a daily basis,” Vardine Galajyan concluded.
