Iranian-Armenian writer Varand’s book presented in Tehran

On June 19, Hovhannes Tumanyan Hall of Chaharmahal Armenian Union of Tehran hosted a literary event/concert organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Islamic Republic of Iran and dedicated to the presentation of Iranian-Armenian writer Varand’s anthology “Contemporary Persian Poetry: Clear to See”. The anthology features the translations of nearly 100 works of contemporary Iranian literature.

It should be mentioned that in 2017, the Iranian-Armenian writer presented the above-mentioned anthology at the Kantegh Awards (held under the auspices of the Union of Writers of Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin) and received the grand prize for translation.

In his speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran Artashes Tumanyan congratulated Varand, praised his work and particularly touched upon the strengthening of cross-cultural ties within the scope of Armenia-Iran relations, underlining the importance of properly presenting the cultural values of the two nations.

In his speech during the presentation, Varand provided details about his career and talked about the Kantegh Awards and several issues related to literary and cultural life within the Iranian-Armenian community.

The event featured readings of the works of Varand and other authors.

Among the attendees were Iranian literary and cultural figures, members of Iranian-Armenian organizations, artists and other guests.
