Diaspora Minister: “I prefer to talk about the present and the future”

On May 25, RA Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received the delegation of the Kasbar Ipegian Theater Company of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Lebanon Chapter, including correspondent Mardig Demirjian, stage directors Souren Khdeshian and Hagop Der-Ghoukassian, as well as the theater company’s representatives, including Jean Bekerejian and Patil Kalajian.

Greeting the guest, the Minister expressed gratitude for the visit. “I am aware of the theater company’s history and its pro-national efforts aimed at preserving the Armenian identity. The new government of Armenia also attaches importance to the inappreciable contributions that you have made to the preservation of the cultural traditions of the Armenians. I prefer to talk about the present and the future. Indeed, our cooperation will continue and expand. Repatriation is the primary issue on our agenda. You will feel our generosity more and more each day. Continue to carry out your mission with the same spirit.”

The theater company’s correspondent Mardig Demirjian expressed gratitude for the support and stated that the mission of the Kasbar Ipegian Theater Company is to preserve the purity of the Armenian language, reinforce Armenian traditions and disseminate Armenian culture. The theater company has been to different continents and given performances on big stages, but has never been to the Mother Homeland. At the initiative of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, the theater company is giving its first performances in Armenia. On May 23 and 24, the theater company performed twice at Vardan Atchemyan Theater of Gyumri, and on May 25 and 26, two plays will be presented at Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin Theater. It would be our pleasure to see you there.

We accepted the changes in Armenia with great excitement. There is optimism everywhere. We hope to see the homeland of our dreams. There is no greater gift for us.”
