Vienna hosting 23rd Euro-Armenian Games

This year, Vienna will host the 23rd Euro-Armenian Games (EAG) from March 30 to April 2. As representative of Vienna’s Ararat Armenian Association Seda Ter-Minasyan told Hayern Aysor, the drawing was held last evening with the participation of nearly 750 athletes from 15 countries, including Holland, France, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Russia, Norway, Georgia, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Armenia and Austria. Athletes from the United States of America have also arrived in Vienna to participate in the Games. The official opening ceremony will be held on the morning of 31 March. RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, who is on a working visit to Vienna, will deliver her welcoming remarks.

The athletes will compete in basketball, volleyball, mini football, badminton, table tennis, backgammon and chess.

This Easter, the Armenians of Europe will celebrate together at the St. Hripsime Church and the Church of the Mekhitarist Congregation in Vienna.

The Euro-Armenian Games are an annual event that is held in any European country ahead of and on the Day of Holy Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Organizing the Euro-Armenian Games also helps consolidate young Diaspora Armenians and helps them preserve their national identity.
