The Promise: Irish director explains motive behind Genocide movie title. video
Irish film director Terry George, who produced The Promise in 2016, has explained the reason for choosing such a title for the historical drama featuring the Armenian Genocide era massacres in the Ottoman Empire.
In an interview with the French-Armenian publicationNouvelles d’Arménie, the director said his choice reflected three promises: the main hero’s promise to his beloved wife to live, his promise to Kirk Kerkorian (US Armenian businessman and philanthropist who sponsored the film project) and the Armenians’ promise to live on.
The movie, starring Christian Bale, Oscar Isaac and Charlotte Le Bon, was premiered in Los Angeles in April.
