On August 3, with the support of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, Canadian-Armenian sculptor Megerditch Tarakdjian opened his personal exhibition at the Modern Art Museum in Yerevan.

Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan conveyed the welcoming remarks of Minister Hranush Hakobyan and congratulated the community of art lovers on the opening of the Canadian-Armenian sculptor’s personal exhibition. “I hope the attendees of this exhibition remember and feel the power and beauty of Megerditch Tarakdjian’s art,” Serzh Srapionyan stated.

The sculptor expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Diaspora for the active support and particularly said the following: “This is my first personal exhibition in Armenia, and I am happy that some of my sculptures are already being showcased at the House-Museum of Yeghishe Charents, Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and other sites. I am a doctor by profession, but the almighty power of the arts has always pulled me like a magnet. I have painted for years and have become a skillful sculptor. Today, I am only involved in sculpting.”

Megerditch Tarakdjian’s sculptures are also showcased in Canada and the United States of America. The sculptor’s statue of famous photographer Yousuf Karsh is placed in central Ottawa, while the sculpture called “The Reader” is placed in front of the Public Library of Montreal City Council.

The exhibition will run until August 17.
