“Diaspora” Summer School Program participant says she was a leader back when she was a child
Ani Gevorgyan is the programs coordinator of the “Armat” (Root) Armenian School of the Vardanyan Educational and Cultural Center (under the auspices of the Southern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Krasnodar) and Vice-Chairperson of the “Armat” (Root) Armenian youth organization and is currently participating in the Course for Young Leaders and Community Activists, which is part of the “Diaspora” Summer School Program organized by the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia.
All the major events are held through the prolific activities of the youth organization and the Armenian school.
In an interview with Hayern Aysor, Ani said her organization’s goal is to carry out various cultural and educational programs and programs for national preservation for the Armenians living in Krasnodar so that they unite around the Armenian Church, schools and the community and maintain the feeling of national belonging. All the Armenians of Krasnodar are aware of the fact that only through national unity will they be able to achieve great heights.
The organization is in constant contact and close collaboration with the Ministry of Diaspora. Thanks to the collaboration, the organization has helped the School’s students participate in the programs of the Ministry.
“The lessons conducted as part of the “Diaspora” Summer School Program were great. We engaged in effective discussions and listened to important lectures. I will definitely apply my knowledge in practice. During the lectures, we received comprehensive information about how to be a young leader and a community activist and gained skills,” Ani stated, adding that she has met different people through the program, has managed to seek paths for cooperation and has agreed to stay in touch with them in order to exchange experiences.
At the end of the interview, it turned out that Ani’s parents had noticed her efforts to become a leader when she was a child. When she was in school, she would gather her classmates and organize various kinds of events in the schoolyard to make their days interesting. She had trouble mentioning any particular person as a leader since she is not a fanatic. She tries to see all the good attributes of people that she might need in life and on the job.
