“4 Generations: The Spirit of Determination” exhibition-sale held at Museum of History of Yerevan
On July 7, at the initiative of Lebanese-Armenian painter Lena Aydenian, the Museum of History of Yerevan hosted the opening of the exhibition-sale called “4 Generations: The Spirit of Determination”. The opening of the exhibition-sale was part of the events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the founding body of Tekeyan Cultural Associations that are being held under the patronage of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
Among those attending the opening ceremony were RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Aram Sukiasyan, as well as artists and intellectuals.
The exhibition showcased the photos, paintings and miniature sculptures by representatives of 4 different generations, including Sahag Vosikian, Arpiné Vosikian, Lena Aydenian, Tania Aydenian, Sareen Vosikian and Celine Tchaghlassian.
The event is also being held as part of the “What are YOU doing for Artsakh?” pan-Armenian movement launched by the RA Ministry of Diaspora. Part of the proceeds from the exhibition-sale will go to the needy families of freedom fighters killed in the Artsakh war.
Chairman of the Lebanon Regional Committee of Tekeyan Cultural Association Vicken Assilian delivered his opening remarks.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Diaspora, the Embassy of Armenia in Lebanon and Yerevan Municipality for helping make the exhibition-sale a success.
In her welcoming remarks, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan congratulated the Lebanese-Armenian artists for holding such an interesting exhibition in the homeland and stated the following: “It has already been a couple of days since citizens of Yerevan have been feeling the air and spirit of Lebanon. Yesterday, Lebanese teen musicians performed the works of Armenian composers during a brilliant concert organized by Mr. Vicken Assilian and established a bridge between Armenia and Lebanon. Today, representatives of 4 generations are presenting their works, and what has united them is Armenian culture and the drive to create in Lebanon, help develop Armenian arts and present them to the world. Dear Lebanese-Armenian artists, in your works you show your love for beauty and high art that has been genetically passed on to you. This exhibition goes to show that the preservation of the Armenian identity and the type and spirit of the Armenians in the Diaspora is in good hands. Armenians must be victorious everywhere, be it in the arts, on the frontline in Artsakh or in the fields of science and economy. Armenia is the center that gives all of us strength and power and serves as a magnetic force.”
Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacology at the San Joseph University of Beirut Hermine Aydenian, member of the Aydenian family of artists, gave her welcoming remarks.
Minister Hranush Hakobyan granted a certificate of the Ministry of Diaspora to Lena Aydenian for contributing to preservation of the Armenian identity in the Diaspora and for preserving and enhancing Armenian culture.
