Young Russian-Armenian says “Ari Tun” Program serves as a way for young Diaspora Armenians to recognize the homeland
The Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia has launched the second stage of the 2017 “Ari Tun” Program through which 110 young Diaspora Armenians have gathered in Armenia to participate in the Program, and one of them is 14-year-old Edita Tovmasyan from Moscow. Edita Tovmasyan gave a short interview to Hayern Aysor.
“I have visited Armenia several times, but this visit is significant since I am participating in the “Ari Tun” Program. It has only been an hour since the second stage was launched, but I am so nervous and excited to be in the homeland. I interact with the locals and the other participants of the Program and have already made acquaintances with many of them. I hope we get to know each other better during the field trips and keep in touch via the Internet in the future.
I was two years old when my family and I moved to Moscow, but I have never lost my national identity. I speak in Armenian and live as an Armenian. Of course, it is hard to preserve the Armenian identity abroad, but I don’t spare efforts. I communicate with my friends and relatives in Armenian and sometimes try to read Armenian websites, become familiar with the history of Armenia and the historic and cultural monuments, the lives and careers of great Armenians, old and new Armenian architecture and read news about Armenia. Currently, I study at an Armenian school. My goal is to receive a good education and gain knowledge to keep the honor of Armenians high and use my knowledge to serve for the development and empowerment of my Homeland. The youth are the future, and we must shape the Armenia of tomorrow.
I would like to urge Diaspora Armenians to never lose their identity no matter where they may be, speak and think in Armenian, learn about the history of Armenia and visit Armenia often.
I think the “Ari Tun” Program serves as the best way for young Diaspora Armenians to recognize the homeland. I thank the Minister of Diaspora and all the employees of the Ministry of Diaspora for implementing this wonderful program!”
