Within the scope of the event, with the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and under the care of the authorities of the city of Gyumri, the key to an apartment donated by Hrachya Poghosyan was handed over to the family of Victor Yuzikhovich, who was killed during the defense battles in the Talish village of the Artsakh Republic on April 2, 2016.
Granting the certificate to the members of the family, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan praised Hrachya Poghosyan’s charities that highly contribute to the strengthening of the Russian-Armenian friendship and particularly said the following: “The photos shown in this hall and the works that have been done already characterize Hrachya Poghosyan as a great person, a wonderful Armenian and an exemplary citizen and benefactor of Russia. Dear Hrachya, may you receive ten times as much as you give and may you have more opportunities to carry out new charity acts.”
Hrachya Poghosyan has built and capitally renovated more than 80 spiritual, cultural and historic structures and has helped publish dozens of books and periodicals. He has also helped film documentary films.
The event also featured the presentation of the book “The Sons of the Great Nation” by former USSR Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan republished with a donation from Hrachya Poghosyan. The book was presented by the Marshal’s grandson Ivan Baghramyan.
The presentation was followed by the screening of the documentary film “Train to Eternity”, which is dedicated to the tragedy that took place at Tikhvin Station in Leningrad region on 14 October 1941 when more than 2,000 children were bombarded while being evacuated from Leningrad. In 2016, Hrachya Poghosyan helped erect a monument in the place where the children had died and helped restore the tombstone.
