Awards granted for efforts for preservation of the Armenian identity
On November 26, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received President of the Union of Armenians of Abkhazia Khachik Minasyan and U.S.-based founding editor of Kaqavik Armenian children’s magazine Juliet Davtyan.
Hranush Hakobyan highly appreciated Khachik Minasyan’s great contributions to the consolidation of the Armenians of Abkhazia and active efforts for preservation of the Armenian identity in the community and awarded him the Gold Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
The President of the Union of Armenians of Abkhazia expressed gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora for the high award and attached special importance to the active, day-to-day cooperation with the ministry, the brilliant evidence of which is the fact that several Abkhazian-Armenians participate in the youth and cultural events organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
Juliet Davtyan was awarded the “Ambassador of the Native Language” Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora for her efforts for preservation of the Armenian identity, as well as teaching Armenian children the Armenian language and providing them with an Armenian upbringing.
Kaqavik Armenian children’s magazine is the first Armenian-language children’s magazine for children between the ages of 3 and 8 in the United States and is issued in both Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian languages.
