Visit to Mashtots’s tomb and Matenadaran on the occasion of Mother Language Day

On February 21, on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Armenian linguists and intellectuals and employees of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, under the leadership of Minister Hranush Hakobyan, visited the church in Oshakan and laid flowers near the tomb of Mesrop Mashtots.

In her welcoming remarks at the event dedicated to International Mother Language Day at the theological seminary adjunct to the church, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan warmly congratulated the attendees on International Mother Language Day and added the following:  “I would like to address all the attendees, especially the youth and all Armenians around the world and ask to treat the language with fear and as a shrine, as well as protect, preserve, develop and disseminate the Armenian language.”

Deputy Governor of Aragatsotn Province of the Republic of Armenia Nune Movsisyan also expressed her greetings to the participants of the event.

The children of the secondary school of Agarak village recited poems, as well as sang songs and performed dances devoted to the Armenian language.

Afterwards, the participants of the event visited the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) and laid flowers in front of the statue of Mesrop Mashtots.
