U.S. commends meeting held in Vienna under the auspices of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs

The U.S. Department of State has addressed the meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan held in Vienna on November 19.

According to a press release issued by the speaker of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, the United States commends the meeting held in Vienna under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

“We praise the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan for taking this first step and are inspired by the fact that they have reached an agreement on having more meetings in the months to come,” as stated in the press release of the U.S.

Department of State. In the press release it is mentioned that the meeting in Vienna was the first meeting between Sargsyan and Aliyev in the past two years.

“This meeting is an important step for reestablishing dialogue and shows that the heads of both states are committed to putting an end to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. As a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States, along with Russia and France, urges the two Presidents to work actively with all the sides for a peaceful settlement of the conflict that has caused severe losses,” as stated in the end of the press release issued by the U.S.
