French-Armenian painter Dikran Daderian awarded with Arshile Gorky Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora

During her recent working visit to France, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan awarded French-Armenian painter Dikran Daderian with the Arshile Gorky Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.

Dikran Daderian has made great contributions to the dissemination of painting abroad and has promoted the development of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership with his work.

Famous painter Dikran Daderian was born in 1929 in Beirut. He spent his childhood, attended the Melkonian Institute in Cyprus and went on to pursue his studies at the National School of Arts in Paris, the Goetz Academy and Gran Shomier Academy. Since 1957, he has held several personal exhibitions and group exhibitions in Armenia, Lebanon and France. He has also taught at the Goetz Academy, which was renamed as the Goetz-Daderian Academy (Académie Goetz-Daderian) in 1983.

Daderian’s works are showcased at the Modern Art Museum in Paris, the National Museum of Paris, the Modern Art Museum of Yerevan, the Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon and other famous museums. The exhibition called “Fifty-Year Career” and dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the painter’s career was held at Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Gallery. In 2012, he was awarded with the Mesrop Mashtots Order.
