German-Armenian community donated apartment to Sukiasyan family of Gyumri

Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s German local affiliate continues to donate apartments to homeless families in Gyumri. The employees of the Fund recently handed the keys to the fourth apartment obtained through the combined efforts of German-Armenians over to 53-year-old Anahit Sukiasyan, who had been living in a domik-shack with her four children for years, as reported on the official website of the Fund, according to Hayern Aysor.

“I personally saw the dire conditions in which this family was living and, without thinking twice, decided to help Anahit, who bears the burden of taking care of the family on her shoulders. It is my pleasure to say that the Armenian community of Germany immediately supported this program, and we were able to donate this bright and beautiful three-bedroom apartment. Let them be healthy and enjoy living in it,” Chairman of the Fund’s German local affiliate Gilbert Momjian said.

Anahit has been taking care of her children as a single mother for the past 16 years. Due to her dire living conditions, she now has health problems, but still does any kind of job to make sure her children receive an education. Her elder son is serving in the army and will be demobilized in a couple of days. “We saw my Andranik off from the domik, but we will be greeting him in our new home and start a new chapter,” Anahit said as she barely managed to hold back her tears.
