Spain’s Benalmadena recognizes the Armenian Genocide

On August 12, the Municipality of Benalmadena officially recognized the Armenian Genocide, becoming the 21st city of the Kingdom of Spain to recognize the genocide perpetrated by Turkey, as reported Ararat Armenian Association of Valencia to Hayern Aysor.

The motion of Ararat Armenian Association was submitted by the Association’s representative in Malaga, Janna Baghdasaryan.

We thank our compatriot for her active efforts. We also thank the Municipality of Benalmadena for being a supporter of justice.

All 6 political parties represented within the city council, including the ruling Socialist Party, the People’s Party, the Lefts Union, the Alternativa por Benalmadena Party, the Costa del Sol-Si Pueda Party and Vesinos por Benalmadena Party, voted in favor of the resolution, condemning the perpetrators of the first genocide of the 20th century and urging Turkey to recognize it.
