Events dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of Armenia’s independence held in Barcelona

On October 1, the RA Embassy in Spain and the RA General Consulate in Catalonia organized an official reception at the hall for ceremonies provided by the Emigration Department of the Government of Catalonia in Barcelona. Among the participants were high-ranking representatives of the local authorities, leaders of foreign diplomatic representations, members of political parties, businesspeople, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations, the media and members of community organizations.

The event began with opening remarks by Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Catalonia Juan Sanmartin Jil and congratulatory remarks by RA Charge d’Affaires of the RA in the Kingdom of Spain Khoren Terteryan. Among other speakers were Director for Foreign Relations of the Government of Catalonia Elena Nieto and Director General for Emigration Javier Boch. The officials respected the heroic past of the Armenian nation and the rich cultural heritage and emphasized that the thousands of Armenians living in Spain’s largest city are diligent, law-abiding and socially active.

The event included the screening of the documentary “Noah’s Land: Armenia” and ended with a reception by the RA General Consulate in Catalonia, reports the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”.
