On May 17, the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (NPAK) hosted the opening of the 2nd Art Expo-2016 international exhibition, which is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia. The exhibition was organized by repatriate painter Vako Armeno Khakhamian with the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
The exhibition showcased the works of 40 artists from 18 countries around the world. Among the attending painters were eight painters from Iran, Kazakhstan, the UK, Russia and Lithuania and over twenty painters from Armenia.
In her welcoming remarks, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan particularly stated the following: “I am pleased with the fact that Vako Armeno Khakhamian has gathered our Armenian painters of the Diaspora once again. This goes to show that we have also managed to create a pan-Armenian network of painters. This exhibition is historic because it is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenian Independence. Today, every second, we remember and respect our soldiers defending the border and maintaining peace. We also remember the achievements that we have made over the past 25 years.”
Hranush Hakobyan awarded the Certificate of Honor of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to Vartkes Khakhamian (repatriate from Lebanon) for his contributions to the strengthening of cultural ties between Armenia and the Diaspora. Hranush Hakobyan also granted Certificates of Appreciation of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to Teni Adamian (Iran), Arpa Hakobian (Iran), Raffi Yourejian (UK), Vladimir Grigoryan (Kazakhstan0 and Rick Ghazarian (USA) for their contributions to the development and dissemination of Armenian culture in the Diaspora.
In his speech, the exhibition’s organizer Vako Armeno Khakhamian expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Diaspora for its ongoing support and mentioned that the cordial responses of Armenia’s art lovers convey more strength and energy to him and all the painters.
The exhibition showcased over 100 works, including paintings, drawings, collages, sculptures, ceramics, photos, mixed techniques, short films, etc.
