Primate of US Eastern Diocese: “RA President’s visit affirmed the unity of the Armenian people”
The visit of the delegation led by RA President Serzh Sargsyan to the USA is over. RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan was also part of the delegation. The President was accompanied by Primate of the US Eastern Diocese, Father Archbishop Khazhak Parsamian throughout the whole visit.
“During these days, I had soul-stirring emotions and felt great as an Armenian. The Armenian community of Boston is of important significance for the Armenians and is one of the major Armenian communities of the Diaspora. We express gratitude to the President for keeping this community in focus and for making a visit. The visit of the President affirmed the unity of the Armenian people and reinforced the interest of the nation and church for the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora triumvirate,” Father Archbishop Khazhak Parsamian stressed in a phone conversation with Hayern Aysor.
His Holiness attached importance to the fact that RA President Serzh Sargsyan would call for unity and consolidation in all of his speeches. One of the symbols of that unity was also the raising of the national flags of the Republic of Armenia, the Artsakh Republic and the United States of America which proved once again the adoption of the draft law on Armenian Genocide recognition by the State of Massachusetts and the approval of the resolution on recognition of Independence of the Artsakh Republic.
The visit to the Armenian Heritage Park was touching. At the Armenian Heritage Park, the delegates laid a wreath near the Armenian Genocide Memorial and paid their respects to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. They also laid a wreath near the Armenian Genocide Memorial located in the yard of the Saint Hakop Armenian Church.
Talking about the meetings, His Holiness underlined the meeting of the RA President with Governor of Massachusetts Charles Baker. During the meeting, the President stated the close relations between Armenia and the United States.
The Primate also attached importance to the message that the President conveyed to Armenian students during his visits to educational institutions (Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the John F. Kennedy School of Management at Harvard University), encouraging the youth and telling them that he would do everything for their advancement since they will become the owners of the land Armenia in the future.
“The meetings with students of the Saint Stepanos Armenian School and with members of the Armenian community at Saint Hakop Church were inspiring. There were nearly 900 people attending the meeting with community members, including representatives of various Armenian churches, organizations, unions, societies, associations and other structures. Generally speaking, I would like to say that this visit not only strengthened, excited and reinforced the Armenian community, but also strengthened the future relations between Armenia and the State of Massachusetts. Evidence of that are the press releases issued by the local presses,” His Holiness concluded.
