The exhibition called “Grandchildren” and devoted to the Armenian Genocide was opened on September 3 and will run until November 1. The curator of the exhibition is painter Silvina Der-Meguerditchian, who was born in Argentina and is currently based in Berlin. According to ermenihaber.am, the Turkish Bianet.org has provided wide coverage of the exhibition, how it was organized, as well as the historical and psychological aspects and significance of the exhibition.
The exhibition showcases the works of Maria Bedoian, Martin Karadaghian, Arman Tadevosian, Mikayel Ohanian, Ashot Ashot, Taleen Byuyukkyukchian-Demirjian, Ani Setian, Hera Byuyuktashchian, Maria Zolamian, Archie Galents and Linda Ganjian.
Silvina Der-Meguerditchian was born to an Armenian family having left Anatolia for Argentina during the Armenian Genocide. After settling in Berlin, she started studying her family’s history, their relations with Anatolia and started examining the culture and lifestyles of Armenians in the Ottoman era.
Those studies have been included in her book “Book of Memoirs”. Der-Meguerditchian has been to Istanbul many times. She has organized two personal exhibitions and several other cultural events. The experience that she has gained and the established values have also served as a basis for the organizing of the exhibition called “Grandchildren”.
