Armenian artist disseminates Armenian songs and dances in Turkey for 42 years
Julia Mutlu, an Armenian artist and director of Dalar song and dance ensemble, has been disseminating Armenian songs and dances in Turkey for 42 years. Ms Mutlu has authored 100 samples of national dresses of Armenians who used to live Anatolia, these having been displayed in Armenia and other countries.
“I’ve been engaged in this in Turkey for 42 years. I’ve worked with all unions, disseminating Armenian songs and dances on Turkish stages. We invite their officials [to our events]; they sit with us, watch and congratulate,” says Ms Mutlu who has never been pressured for het activity.
At the 6th session of the State Commission on Coordination of events for commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held today, Julia Mutlus was bestowed Medal of Gratitude by Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan for her active contribution to the organization and implementation of the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
