RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Vahagn Melikyan visited participants of the “Ari Tun” Program
On July 15, RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Vahagn Melikyan visited Stepan Shahumyan School N 1 to become familiar with the 5-day Armenian language course that is being hosted for the participants of the “Ari Tun” Program.
The classes are set up based on the participants’ Armenian language proficiency, as well as the characteristics of the participant’s region and knowledge of foreign language (as the primary language).
The fourth stage of the “Ari Tun” Program is being held with the participation of 153 young Armenians from 10 countries around the world, including the USA, Russia, Syria, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Ukraine, Iraq, the Netherlands and Spain.
Deputy Minister of Diaspora Vahagn Melikyan and Head of the Department of General Education of Yerevan Municipality Gaiane Soghomonyan visited the classrooms, attended the lessons, talked to the participants of the program and asked them about their knowledge of Armenian.
David Janamyan and Vladimir Nadirov (Georgia) from Susanna Abazyan’s class recited the poems of Sayat-Nova, and Gaiane Babloyan’s student Levon Tadevosyan (Uzbekistan) sincerely expressed his admiration of the Homeland, the sites that he had visited and promised that he would come and settle in Armenia.
For the past four years, Stepan Shahumyan School N 1 has been receiving the participants of the “Ari Tun” Program with open arms and has been hosting effective Armenian language courses, after which the participants of the “Ari Tun” Program leave with more knowledge of Armenian, as well as knowledge about the Homeland, Armenian history and culture.
