The once Armenian-populated Ashrafieh District of Aleppo has been bombed

The once Armenian-populated Ashrafieh District of Aleppo has been bombed for the past couple of days. This is what speaker of the Armenian Prelacy of the Diocese of Aleppo Jirair Reyisian told A”rmenpress”, adding that there are no Armenians living in the district now.

“The bombings began on the evening of July 2 and continued until morning. The situation has been calm for an hour now, but there is still no information about the damage that has been caused,” he mentioned. Reyisian also informed that the bombing in Ashrafieh had begun with the dropping of missiles and continued with artillery, after which the air forces continued to bomb the district. He also recalled the current problems with water, electricity and Internet connection.

As far as the air temperature is concerned, Reyisian said compared to previous years, this year the air temperature in Aleppo isn’t too high. Since the summer of 2012, the city of Aleppo has been a target for clashes between government forces and dozens of terrorist groups. The clashes continue to this day. The western districts of the city are under the control of government forces, while the eastern districts are under the terrorist groups’ control.
