On June 24, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians had a farewell meeting with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Reiner Morell.

His Holiness touched upon the close ties established between the Mother See and the Embassy and attached importance to the Ambassador’s efforts aimed at strengthening German-Armenian relations.

Talking about the Bundestag’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Catholicos of All Armenians voiced hope that the ongoing discussions would lead to a positive outcome. The Supreme Patriarch emphasized that by Germany’s recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide would set an example for other countries and nations and would help prevent such tragedies from happening.

In his turn, Ambassador Morell expressed gratitude to the Pontiff for the cordiality and cooperation.
