On June 12, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan hosted and gave an interview to journalists of Brazil’s leading SBT TV Company and Estadao de Sao Paulo newspaper.

The journalists are in Armenia to prepare a series of programs presenting Armenia from many angles.

The questions were related to the Armenian Genocide, the formation of the Armenian Diaspora and the Armenian communities established in different countries around the world, Turkish-Armenian relations, the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the functions of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, etc.

Giving detailed answers to the questions from the journalists, Minister Hranush Hakobyan also expressed special gratitude to the Senate of Brazil, which unanimously adopted a resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide. “I consider the resolution a major step for truth and justice and a show of respect towards the Armenians of the Diaspora who survived the Turks’ yataghan and settled in different countries around the world, including Brazil. The adoption of the resolution also goes to show that Brazil is leading a struggle to make sure genocide never happens again anywhere in the world,” Hranush Hakobyan said, expressing confidence that the President of Brazil would definitely approve the decision of the Senate.
