Rembrandt’s and Dürer’s etchings missing from Boston Public Library

Two etchings by Rembrandt (1606-69) and Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) worth hundreds of thousands of dollars are “missing” from the Boston Public Library, which is one of the largest libraries in the United States of America, as the Boston Herald reported on May 20, according to TASS, writes Artsakhpress.
The library’s administration told police about the loss of the etchings on April 29, three weeks after the library’s superintendent hadn’t been able to find the two etchings.
Police believe the etchings were missing after it was announced that they had disappeared a year ago.
The Boston Public Library is home to nearly 200,000 drawings, sketches and etchings by famous masters, including nearly 30 works by Rembrandt and 100 works by Dürer .
As for the book’s fund, it has more than 15,000,000 pieces and is considered the third in terms of size in the United States of America after the Library of the U.S. Congress and the New York Public Library.
