Inter-departmental commission in charge of organizing the 9th Pan-Homenetmen Games holds session at the RA Ministry of Diaspora
The inter-departmental commission in charge of organizing the 9th Pan-Homenetmen Games held a session at the RA Ministry of Diaspora on July 9th.
In her speech, the head of the inter-departmental commission, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan mentioned: “As you know, Homenetmen organizes pan-Armenian games once every four years, and the 9th Pan-Armenian Games will be held in Yerevan. Homenetmen, which has a history spanning a century, is one of the world’s largest Armenian educational and sport organizations that has carried out activities for national preservation in the Armenian Diaspora throughout the years and continues to do so.”
Head of the National Scouting Organization of Armenia Hrachya Shmavonyan presented the organizational issues of the event and informed that Yerevan will be hosting more than 3,500 visitors who will be following the event that will bring together 650 athletes from 18 countries. The participants are 12-24-year old children and youth who will compete in soccer, basketball, tennis, table tennis, chess, swimming, volleyball and light athletics.
Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Nazareth Mnatsakanyan mentioned that the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs would do everything possible to receive the guests and athletes properly and organize the Games in suitable conditions.
RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan attached importance to the involvement of the RA Police and the RA Ministry of Health in the program in order to ensure the participants’ safety and assistance in emergency situations. The minister also suggested adding hours for advanced Armenian language courses for the athletes.
The solemn opening ceremony of the 9th Pan-Homenetmen Games will be held at Freedom Square in Yerevan on July 27th and will end on August 3rd.
