Mayor of Yerevan visited Armenian Apostolic Church in Riga
During the official visit to Riga, the delegation led by Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan paid a visit to the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church in Riga where Priest Khosrov Stepanyan presented Taron Margaryan with the history of the church that was consecrated in 2011.
According to Priest Khosrov, the church was built in the style of an Armenian Apostolic Church with the active support of the local Armenian community and there are always a lot of people during the ceremonies and liturgies.
Taking into consideration the fact that the mayor’s visit coincided with the day of remembrance of the deceased, the church’s spiritual pastor served a Requiem Mass for the delegates from Yerevan and the Armenian community of Riga.
Afterwards, Mayor Taron Margaryan and Head of Latgales district of Riga Dmitri Pavlov visited the area near the church where a Yerevan Park will be built.
Dmitri Pavlov said the park being built through the combined efforts of the municipal authorities and the Armenian community will become a unique resort for the Armenian community and all citizens of Riga.
Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Mayor Taron Margaryan underlined that Yerevan Municipality would also support the construction of the square and would do everything possible to make sure that everyone feels like they are in Yerevan.
