On Apr. 2, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan had a telephone conversation with Mayor of Kessab Vasken Chaparian, asked about the state of the Armenians of Kessab and the possible advancement of the Syrian forces.

The mayor of Kessab assured that the people are more at ease, are receiving the help, and the army is moving forward step-by-step.

Out of the 38 hostages, 24 have been set free, and talks are underway for the release of the remaining 14 hostages.

Mayor of Kessab expressed gratitude to all pan-Armenian organizations, the Armenian Church, as well as state and international organizations for their support. The mayor added that Kessab is closely following the relief efforts and voiced hope that the struggle would lead to a positive outcome.
