Cavusoglu to leave for the U.S. “to prevent” Obama from using the word “genocide”

This weekend, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu will leave for Washington to make efforts to make sure U.S. President Barack Obama doesn’t use the word “genocide” before April 24th.
As “Armenpress” reports, the Turkish Hurriyet reports that Ankara is planning to organize a crucial visit. It is reported that on Sunday, Cavusoglu will meet with members of U.S. organizations and will give on April 20 a speech at Carnegie Endowment, which is considered one of the most famous think tanks in the country.
On April 21, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. At the end of the article, Hurriyet has set aside three points describing what can happen if Obama used the word “genocide”. Firstly, in case of such a precedent, the U.S. government will highly support the court cases devoted to the Armenian Genocide in U.S. courts. Secondly, if the U.S. federal government decides to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, Turkey may fail in the court cases for reparations instituted by Armenians in different parts of the United States. Finally, Obama’s decision may set an example for other countries and similar judicial proceedings may take place in those countries.
