Mkhitar Ketsyan: “I had never seen a school like the “Hayordats Tun” Armenian School”

During a visit to Moscow, troubadour Mkhitar Ketsyan had a meeting with Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Russia and Nor Nakhichevan, Bishop Yezras Nersisyan, received the blessing of His Holiness and was hosted at the “Hayordats Tun” Armenian School by the school’s Principal Hmayak Gevorgyan, as Armine Kareyan reports to Hayern Aysor.
During the reception, Mkhitar Ketsyan attended an event entitled “Battle of Musa Dagh” and had a meeting with the musicians of the Akunk Ensemble.
“I must say that I’m very impressed. I didn’t even know that there was such a school. During my concerts, I have visited several Armenian schools abroad, but I hadn’t seen a school like the “Hayordats Tun” Armenian School. I’m simply surprised and admire the tremendous amount of work that the school has done. Words can’t describe how much I admire the work that the school has done and the significance of the school’s efforts. During this short visit, I saw and became convinced that the representatives of the school don’t spare any effort to preserve the Armenian identity, which is very important in Russia since it isn’t really viewed as part of the Armenian Diaspora, and that makes the Armenians not worry too much about the danger of assimilation,” Mkhitar Ketsyan said in an interview and expressed certainty that among the students of “Hayordats Tun” are talented students who can transmit folk songs to the generations.
