Greek and Armenian communities of Australia against Ataturk statue

The Greek and Armenian communities of Australia are against the placement of a statue of founder of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Hyde Park of Sydney, writes the Greek Reporter, as armradio.am reports.

“Kemal Ataturk is responsible for the mass killings and death marches of ethnic minorities in Turkey, as well as the murders of those who went against his dictatorship in the early 20th century. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his supporters, who are known as “Kemalists”, carried out barbaric assaults against the minorities living in Turkey,” as stated in the letter of protest of young Armenians of Australia addressed to member of the government of New South Wales Victor Dominelli.

Members of the Greek community have also addressed letters of protest.
