Place for “Platform” of Armenian Sunday schools of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to gather was Mastricht

Representatives of Armenian Sunday schools in the Kingdom of the Netherlands hold professional meetings on a regular basis. The purpose of those meetings is to promote the Armenian education and discipline of the new generation of Armenians in the Dutch-Armenian communities and expand the exchange of experiences between professionals. This joint educational program is called “Platform”, as the Diary of the Netherlands reports to Hayern Aysor.

This time “Platform” met in Mastricht, which is the city that has assumed chairmanship for the 2014-15 Academic Year.

In addition to the “landlords”, the event also brought together school principals and teaching staffs from Almelo, Naimechen, Westerford and Amsterdam. The meeting began with a welcome speech by leader of the “Ani” Armenian Community and chairman of the parish council of the Saint Karapet Armenian Church Levon Sargis, followed by a speech by founder of “Platform”, Mrs. Sveta Abrahamyan, who briefly presented the idea of “Platform” and the activities that have been carried out to this day.

The participants of the meeting briefly presented their work and experience in Armenia and abroad and engaged in an extensive discussion on professional issues on the agenda. Armenian language teachers of the school of Naimechen Tina Matevosyan and Narine Melkonyan, as well as teacher of the school of Mastricht Artak Manukyan delivered lectures on the study and analysis on the Armenian language and the teaching methodology. Principal of the school in Almelo Manuk Mkrtchyan and founder of “Platform”, leader of the Armenian community of Naimechen, Mrs. Sveta Abrahamyan shared their rich knowledge and experience during the discussions on the issues.

Among others participating in the discussion were Berge Asadourian (Mastricht), Angela Andresyan, Seda Grigoryan (Almelo), Valentin Khachikyan (Westerford), as well as teachers of the school of Amsterdam Anush Shahbazyan and Alisa Movsesyan, who participated as observers.

The teachers of the Armenian Sunday schools of the Netherlands touched upon certain issues related to the rules and regulations of “Platform”. After the discussions, they made certain amendments and supplements and finalized the statute of “Platform”, even though it can always be improved during future discussions.

At the end, by the proposal of moderator Artak Manukyan, the participants of the meeting approved the plan to hold an event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide with students of Armenian Sunday schools of the Netherlands in July with the title “THE PRICE OF OUR BLOOD”.

The idea of holding song festivals and festivals for creators was also approved.

An agreement was reached on maintaining ties and exchanging materials and school curricula.

At the end, the participants of the meeting wished each other success in teaching, toured the hall of Saint Karapet Armenian Church and took photos before bidding each other farewell.
