Turkish MP says Turkey might be forced to pay Armenians compensation

MP of Turkey’s oppositional “People’s Republican Party” (CHP) from Adana Osman Faruk Loghoglu has declared that the Armenian lobby has made more efforts for the passage by the U.S. Congress of a resolution on the Armenian Genocide and that Turkey is powerless, as Ermenihaber reports.

According to the Turkish 5kitahaber.com, the MP stressed the fact that Greek and Armenian lobbies are acting against Turkey in the United States and that this will lead to some kind of pro-Armenian resolution that might put Turkey in a bad situation.

Recalling how former U.S. President Bill Clinton once interfered with a phone call and prevented the passage of a resolution against Turkey, Logoglu stressed that one can never predict the actions of the United States.

“If U.S. President Barack Obama uses the phrase “we recognize the genocide” before April 24th, or if Congress passes any Armenian Genocide resolution, U.S. courts will have different positions on the issue. U.S. judges follow the President and the decisions taken by Congress. They will immediately uphold the Armenians’ claims, Turkey will be forced to pay Armenians compensation, and Armenians will become the owners of Turkey’s properties in the United States. The situation is more panicking than it seems.”

Loghoglu also drew attention to the fact that the Jewish lobbyists, who used to be more pro-Turkish, have also joined Greek and Armenian lobbyists in their actions against Turkey. According to the MP, the change of the Jewish lobby’s position is completely consequential to the policy led by Turkey’s ruling “Justice and Development” Party (AKP).
