Armenian Genocide seminar to be held in Brussels
On March 16 a seminar commemorating the Armenian Genocide will be held in the Academy Palace in the Belgian capital city of Brussels, News.am reports citing the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.
The message reads as follows: “The Armenian Genocide issue brings about many controversies in Turkey, first and foremost, due to Turkey’s policy of denial, although many states have recognized the genocide. On the other hand, Armenians from all over the world struggle for the recognition and conservation of their historical memory.
The Armenian community, Armenian press, as well as Turks calling to recognize the Armenian Genocide still exist in Turkey. A part of the seminar will focus on the difficulties Armenians face in Turkey (Hrant Dink’s murder serving as an example), and the role the Jewish Holocaust history can play in the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
