Winners of “We have existed, we exist and we will exist” student competition received their awards at the Mekhitarist Educational Complex of Avan

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the RA Ministry of Diaspora is carrying out a student competition with the title “We have existed, we exist and we will exist” at all Armenian schools around the world, and one of the first schools to respond was the Mekhitarist Educational Complex of the Mekhitarist Congregation in Yerevan. RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan participated in the final event for the “We have existed, we exist and we will exist” competition held at the educational complex. The competition was devoted to the Armenian Genocide and was held in three stages (essay, painting, reciting).

During the event, the students of the educational complex acted, recited poems, as well as performed songs and dances as they presented the history of the Armenian people, starting from the Battle of Avarayr and ending with the Battle of Sardarapat and the liberation war in Artsakh. The powerful spirit of Armenians, as well as the persistence for the struggle, victory, the homeland, statehood and to be an Armenian soldier could be felt in the auditorium.

After the performances, Director of the Mekhitarist Educational Complex, Father, Archimandrite Serovbe Chamurlyan greeted the participants, expressed his gratitude to the RA Minister of Diaspora for the initiative and praised the students. Afterwards, Minister Hranush Hakobyan granted gifts and diplomas of the Ministry of Diaspora to the winners of the competition and active participants. In her speech, the minister attached importance to the activities of the Zharangavorats School and stressed the fact that in addition to being a center for education and discipline, it also has a great spiritual mission. The minister said it was a pleasure to see how the school provides more knowledge and enriches culture by organizing different kinds of programs and events. The minister also stressed the fact that today Vardan Ghumashyan is able to awaken in the students the pride of being a winner and is able to maintain the symbol of the motto “For the Homeland, For Faith”, which is the motto for the heroes of the Battle of Vardanants and all heroes in all periods of Armenian history.
