The Student Body of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has unanimously approved a resolution to divest over $70 million in investments in Turkish Government related bonds due to the country’s denial of the Armenian Genocide.
The move is thought to be an important victory against Turkey’s genocide denial, led by the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) and Armenian Students Association on the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus just last night, says Elizabeth Chouldjian, the communications director at the Armenian National Committee of America.
“This is the first of a broad multi-campus campaign to not only raise awareness about the Armenian Genocide but undermine Turkey’s ability to profit from its crimes,” reads her letter sent to Tert.am’s editorial office.
