Actions commemorating Hrant Dink held in 7 German cities

Youth of Armenian communities of 7 German cities (Berlin, Hannover, Dortmund, Cologne, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Munich) held on January 17 actions in memory of Hrant Dink as they enacted the murder by Turk nationalists of the Armenian intellectual, as Tert.am reports.
One of the young Armenians laid on the floor for several hours in a white bedspread and with red ribbons on four sides, while another young man used a microphone and not only presented details of Dink’s murder and demanded that Germany and all of Europe focus on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. There was also a sign reading “I Killed Infidels”.
“We are a group of youth wishing to call the attention of people of Germany and Europe to the Armenian Genocide of 1915. We are Christians and want Germany to officially recognize the genocides that Turkey perpetrated against our ancestors, the Armenians, as well as against the Greeks and the Assyrians,” the participants of the action declared.
The participants of the action mentioned that they also remember Hrant Dink who was killed by Turk ultranationalists just because he openly spoke out about the genocide that took place in the early 20th century. They informed that Turkey still hasn’t been able to reveal the murder committed in 2007 and has acquitted 18 culprits.
“Was the murder by chance, or was it something that the Turks are known for doing?” the youth asked.
The young Armenians also spoke out about human rights protection in Turkey, the number of Turk journalists in jail and added that this goes to show that freedom of speech is at risk in Turkey.
“We demand official recognition of the Armenian Genocide, lessons on the Armenian Genocide in schools and Turkey’s reparations, just like the reparations for the Holocaust,” they mentioned.
