Five Syrian-Armenian families to receive apartments in January 2015

Thanks to the program initiated by “Aleppo” Compatriotic Charitable Organization, five Syrian-Armenian families will receive new apartments in 2015, as President of “Aleppo” Compatriotic Charitable Organization Ani Balkhian said in an interview with “ArmenPress”.

The goal of the program is to purchase apartments worth $25,000 dollars in Yerevan through individual benefactors and donate them to Syrian-Armenian families that need it the most.

“The Organization searches for apartments and takes care of issues with the notary. The funds for the apartments were provided by great national benefactor in Syria Gabriel Jemberjian. We’re also keeping in touch with other benefactors to purchase another five apartments,” Balkhian said.

“Aleppo” Compatriotic Charitable Organization has nearly 950 registered Syrian-Armenian families. For needs assessment, the Organization’s members visit homes and engage the families that need homes the most. In 2014, the Organization provided different kinds of assistance to Syrian-Armenians through cooperation with different organizations and individual benefactors, providing the Syrian-Armenians with food, clothes and money to pay their utility bills and make other expenses. One of the other programs is the re-establishment of the “Arevik” center for stunted children in Yerevan. Construction was launched on October 1, 2014. According to Balkhian, the Center’s employees are former teachers of the center in Aleppo, and there are already nine children learning at the center.
