Serj Tankian confirmed George Clooney’s visit to Armenia

Famous Hollywood actor George Clooney will be visiting Armenia in April 2015. According to “ArmenPress”, lead singer of System of a Down Serj Tankian confirmed the news on his page on Instagram.

“Rumor has it that George Clooney will be coming to Armenia with us in April 2015. It’s an undeniable truth,” Tankian wrote.

The rock band System of a Down (SOAD) has announced its new concert tour. The first concert will be held at The Forum in Los Angeles on December 13th, followed by concerts in Great Britain (April 10th), Germany (April 13th), France (April 14th), Belgium (April 16th), the Netherlands (April 17th) and Russia (April 20th).

On April 23, a day before the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the band will give an open-air concert at Republic Square in Yerevan. The title of the concert tour is “Wake up the souls”.

“As you know, the band has been leading a struggle for international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide for years. The whole world appreciates the band’s music, especially the youth. The concert in Yerevan will be held as part of the international concert tour that will include concerts in London, Cologne, Lyon, Brussels, Amsterdam and Moscow.” This is what Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan stated, adding that the concerts will be aimed at commemorating the 100th year of the Armenian Genocide and will be free-of-charge.

Founded in 1994 in Los Angeles, System of a Down is a metal rock band with members Serj Tankian (lead singer, keyboards), John Dolmayan (drummer), Daron Malakian (Taron Malakhian) (guitar, vocals) and Shavo Odadjian (Shavarsh Odadjian) (bass guitar). The band chose the name System of a Down, which is based on Daron Malakian’s poem entitled “Victims of a Down”.
