On November 20, ICANN decided to register the “.հայ” domain on the Internet. The procedure of technical compliance will last 3-6 months, as PanARMENIAN.Net reports to the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication.

“This is a world event for all Armenians and will provide everyone with the opportunity to spread information on the Internet by using the domain in Armenian letters. The use of the “.հայ” domain will promote the use of the Armenian keyboard in the Diaspora, the introduction of Armenian fonts in modern mobile devices and will allow people to develop Armenian language proficiency on the Internet. At the same time, the domain will promote the daily use of the Armenian language and the use of the language for further expansion of Armenia-Diaspora relations,” stated in the press release.
