Catholicos of All Armenians consecrated cross-stones in Singapore
The pontifical visit of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II began with a visit to Singapore on September 28.
During the visit, a Divine Liturgy was served at the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Church of Singapore, after which the Catholicos consecrated the two cross-stones placed on the dome of the church and dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide and to the late Prelate of the Armenian Diocese of Australia and New Zealand, Archbishop Aghan Baliozian.
Among those attending the ceremonies were representatives of the local Armenian community, Armenian students of the international school in Singapore, clergymen from the sister Christian churches and diplomats.
In the evening, Raffles Hotel hosted a reception.
In his speech at the event, RA Ambassador to Singapore Armen Sargsyan stressed the fact that the pontifical visit of the Catholicos of All Armenians to Singapore goes to show once again how much the Catholicos cares for the restoration and preservation of churches and the Holy Etchmiadzin’s special attitude towards the local Armenian community.
The Catholicos of All Armenians gave his blessing and conveyed his message to the gathered, congratulating everyone on the achievements made in the past couple of years and urging them to continue their sincere mission to preserve the Armenian identity.
A concert featuring performances by the community’s talented musicians was held at the hall of the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Church on September 29.
