Event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide held in Vienna

On September 25, the “Hayastan” Center adjunct to the Armenian Embassy in Austria held an event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide with the title “Facts and Stories”.

The event was organized by the Armenian Embassy in Vienna, the Kultur Kontakt Austria Agency, which is part of the Austrian government for promoting cross-cultural cooperation, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Austro-Romanian Society, in association with the Paul Zsolnay Publishing House and Orlando Bookstore.

The event included welcoming remarks by RA Ambassador to Austria, RA Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Arman Kirakossian.

Kirakossian’s welcoming remarks were followed by the screening of young Romanian artist Daniel Jamo’s 8-minute film devoted to Soghomon Tehleryan, after which excerpts in Romanian, Armenian and German were read from Romanian-Armenian writer, political figure Varoujan Vosganian’s book Book of Whispers printed for the second time in German.

The screening and readings were followed by a discussion on the topic of the Armenian Genocide in arts and literature with Daniel Jamo, Varoujan Vosganian and Professor of the University of Zalzburg, Armenologoist Jasmine Dum Tragut.

The event ended with a reception.
