On September 22, RA President Serzh Sargsyan received representatives of Syrian-Armenian community structures, organizations and the clergy who are in Armenia to participate in the 5^th Armenia-Diaspora Conference. Among them were Prelate of the Diocese of Aleppo of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, Father, Archbishop Shahan Sarkisian; President of the Armenian Missionary Association of Syria , Dr. Harutyun Selimyan; ARF-D representative Garabed Yuzbashian; Chairman of the Regional Committee of the Armenian Democratic-Liberal Party (Ramgavar) in Northern Syria, member of the Supreme Judicial Body of the Armenian Democratic-Liberal Party (Ramgavar) Levon Belekian; Chairman of the Aleppo Region of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party Sarkis Kavlakian and ARF-D representative, press speaker of the Armenian Diocese of Aleppo, general speaker for the Armenian Apostolic, Catholic and Evangelical Communities of Syria Jirair Reyisian.

During the meeting, the sides addressed the problems facing the Syrian-Armenian community undergoing trials and tribulations as a result of the Syrian crisis, the involvement of all Armenian organizations in providing solutions to those problems, as well as the support to Syrian-Armenians in Armenia and the upcoming programs.

The sides also discussed the state of Christian communities at risk in the Near East, as well as the problems with preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Christians in that region and the challenges facing the nation. The interlocutors expressed their serious concern about and strictly condemned the September 21 barbaric explosion of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church of Deir Zor, which was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide and contained relics of numerous martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.

The importance of the priorities and provisions stated in the Declaration adopted by the participants of the 5^th Armenia-Diaspora Conference were underlined for the solution to the above mentioned issues, resistance to the current challenges and the consolidation of all Armenians around the goals and interests of the nation for that purpose.
